Each portrait is prepared individually from your photograph, proofed with you, and engraved one piece at a time in North Georgia.

Your approval protects the result

If your photo cannot produce a clear engraving, we will ask for another image. You may submit a replacement photo or cancel before approving the proof. Custom work becomes final after proof approval and production begins.

Natural wood grain and tone vary, so every portrait has its own character. Uploaded photos are used only to prepare and fulfill your order.

Hoeksema workmanship promise: If we make a spelling, design, or production error, we will correct it at no charge. If your order arrives damaged, contact us with photos of the item and packaging so we can make it right.

Photo guidelines

Use the original, highest-quality photo available. Bright, sharp images with the face clearly visible produce the strongest engraving. Avoid screenshots, heavy filters, blur, and photos where the subject is very small. JPG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC files up to 20 MB are accepted. If the image will not engrave clearly, we will ask for another photo before preparing the final proof.

Standard portraits are engraved on ¼-inch maple plywood, sanded smooth, and finished with a clear protective coat. A solid-hardwood upgrade is available for +$15. Note any preferred species in Special Instructions; availability will be confirmed before proof approval. Natural grain and tone vary, making every engraving one of a kind.

Proof, production & shipping

Your digital engraving proof is normally sent within 2 business days. One revision is included. Engraving begins only after you approve the proof, followed by approximately 5–7 business days of production. Finished orders are carefully packaged and shipped with tracking within the United States.

Workmanship & damage promise

Hoeksema corrects its own spelling, design, or production errors at no charge. If your order arrives damaged, contact us with photographs of the item and packaging so we can make it right. Natural grain and tone variation are expected characteristics of real wood and are not considered damage.
